This isn't my style.

I started a blog. Short story: my roommates moved out a couple weeks ago and they took all their furniture with them...no couch and TV, I need to find something else to do when it gets slow. I'm going to keep this basic at first, I'll just describe my day a little bit, going backwards.

Right now my roommate is listening to some weird music and I'm sitting here drinking a couple of Corona's. She's from the Chezch Republic, her name is Blanka. Part of the reason I chose to move to Asia was to get away from the party culture back West, but I've been finding that drinking a beer or two and getting out with friends is very necessary, so I picked up a couple on my way home. My days are a lot more busy out here, it's nice to relax.

Before that I was tutoring my private, Justice. He's a ten-year-old boy that lives in Taipei, in the DaAn District. His dad is a surgeon...the popular thing to do here when you have money is to spend that money on your kid's education. They have public school here, but on top of that kids go to all sorts of private tutoring and cram schools - schools dedicated to teaching one subject. Obviously, most of the cram schools teach English. I'm not going to get into that tonight. Anyway, this kid is a brain...for those of you that know him, he reminds me of Sam Spencer. This kid has had a private English tutor since he was 3, so he's completely fluent. The only thing is he speaks with a British accent - a perfect British accent, it trips me out. Tonight was pretty basic.

Before that I got some dinner, hung around my apartment and studied a little Chinese. Dinner was good, I've been eating at this little hole-in-the-wall that's attached to a Temple. They only serve 5 things...it's fucking delicious, always packed with people. I've become addicted to Stinky Tofu, a Taiwanese delicacy. A lot of people say that, "it smells like shit", but I still eat it. When I finished that, I reviewed my Chinese class from Friday night. I take class three hours a week now, it's a one-on-one private with Teacher Chad. His name is Chad, but he's Taiwanese. He knows everything about Chinese, I think I'll learn a lot. After that I jumped on the MRT and walked down Dunhua to Justice's house.

Before that I worked from 9:30-4:00. I have to be out of my apartment by 8:30, I'm usually pretty good about it. This puts me at work around 9:10/9:15, and we start class at 9:30. I take the MRT from Guting to Banqiao. Guting is where I live, Banqiao is where I work. When I get off the MRT I always go to 7-11 and get a breakfast sandwich and coffee, if I'm feeling awake I'll skip the coffee.

School was alright today...they changed up our schedule so it was chaotic, tons of Taiwanese kids running all over. On top of that, they're buckling down on my class and observing it a lot, which is a pain in the ass. There's a kid in my class that has too much energy and can't sit still, he always gets up and hits other kids, etc. His name is Wilson. He just wants to play, but the kids don't get to play too much here. Parents have been complaining that their kids are getting hit, so they're trying to do something about it. It's bullshit, I really try with this class, but the parents just don't understand...if you ever have a kid, never give the teacher any shit, it's not cool. My class is mostly 4 and 5 year olds, by the way. One of the good things about our school is the kids stop class at 12:00 to eat lunch and take a nap, so the teachers have a break from 12:00 - 2:30, and we get to eat the cafeteria food, it's OK and it's free. I usually hang out, go over my Chinese and talk to my friend Leila, who also works there. My friend and her husband Andrew also drops by before his class. When the kids wake up we teach from 2:30 - 4:00, the class is usually misbehaving and full of energy at this point.

That was pretty much my day. Mondays are busy, I normally have Chinese class, but today it was moved. Sometimes I get to see some friends, or hang out with my girlfriend, Brenda. Anyways, I need to be in bed by 12:00am. So I'm out, take it easy.
